The Last Card Part II

[At the Shrine, huge obelisks rise from the ground. The ground cracks straight at Madison.]

MADISON: Ah!
SAKURA: Madison! Look out! Come on!

[Sakura pushes Madison out of the way.]

SAKURA: You okay?
MADISON: Hmm-hmm.
LI: Sakura! Over there!

[Li points to the town where more obelisks are pushing through the ground. Kero pokes his head out of Sakura's backpack.]

KERO: Earth Card. If you only showed yourself sooner.

[Julian runs up to the group. Ms. MacKenzie is also standing nearby.]

SAKURA & LI: Huh?
JULIAN: What's going on?! Are either of you hurt?
SAKURA: No, we're all right! Ms. MacKenzie! Be careful! (thinking) The ground around her isn't shaking. (aloud) But, how can that...
LI: Use your magic!
SAKURA: But, here...?
JULIAN: Look out!

[A huge obelisk rises from the ground separating Julian and Madison from Sakura and Li.]

MADISON: Sakura!
KERO: Use the key!
SAKURA: But Julian will see me!
LI: Use the Sleep Card!
SAKURA: Right!

[Sakura pulls out her key and the Sleep Card.]

SAKURA: Oh, Key of Clow. Power of magic, power of light. Surrender the wand, the force ignite! Release! Sleep!

[Sleep flies over, putting everyone to sleep, except Madison. Ms. MacKenzie is unaffected, also. by the spirit.]

MADISON: Julian, what's the matter?
SAKURA, LI, & KERO: Ah!
SAKURA: Kero, can I stop this earthquake?
KERO: Only by capturing the Earth Card.
SAKURA: There has got to be a way. Every card has a weakness, so, we have to find it! I need to go and check things out from the sky. Can you protect the other, Li?
LI: Don't worry.
SAKURA: I won't.

[Sakura pulls out the Fly Card.]

SAKURA: Fly!

[Giant wings grow on the end of her wand.]

SAKURA: I'll be right back.
LI: Be...
SAKURA: Huh?
LI: Be careful...
SAKURA: 'kay.

[Sakura flies up into the air, with Kero following.]

MADISON: This isn't good.
MS. MacKENZIE: Madison, don't worry. Sakura will be just fine.

[Up in the air, Sakura and Kero examine the destruction the Earth Card had done to the town.]

SAKURA: Did a Clow Card really do all this?
KERO: Yes, but this one's special. Earth is the last remaining card to be collected.
SAKURA: So, if I capture it, that's it! I will have fulfilled my destiny!
KERO: Not quite.
SAKURA: Huh? What do you mean?

[An obelisk breaks through the ground, right under Sakura.]

SAKURA & KERO: Whoa!

[Sakura flies to a roof top.]

SAKURA: Whoa. It's causing so much damage. If we don't stop this one soon, the whole town will be destroyed!
KERO: Sakura, Earth isn't just the last card, it's the fourth and final element card. Remember, they're much more powerful than the others.
SAKURA: I didn't feel it...
KERO: Element cards are illusive and difficult to sense.
SAKURA: So, what should I do?
KERO: First you have to discover its true form.

[Another obelisk breaks through, but this one also grows a head and long neck.]

SAKURA: Kero! Look!
KERO: That's it! The Earth's visible form!
SAKURA: Water!

[The water spirit flies out of her card and breaks off the neck of the Earth card. Only it grows back.]

SAKURA: It just grew back!
KERO: *panting*
SAKURA: Kero, are you okay?
KERO: Yeah... But you can't just defeat Earth with an attack card.
SAKURA: Then what should I do?
KERO: You can't overpower it! Search for a card that has never let you down.
SAKURA: Never let me down... okay!

[The Earth Card turns and heads towards them.]

SAKURA: Here it comes... Jump Card!

[Small wings grow on the back of Sakura's shoes, and she quickly jumps away from the spirit. It keeps following her and Kero, however.]

SAKURA: (thinking) I can't defeat that with just any card! It's too strong! (aloud) Huh? (thinking) It's right behind us! If I can't use an attack card, then what?
MS. MacKENZIE: (thinking) Open your mind. Strength is found in many forms.
SAKURA: Huh? That's strange.
KERO: What is?
SAKURA: The trees. None of them have been knocked down. (thinking) Wait a minute. trees wrap their roots around the earth all the time, so maybe...

[Sakura stops and faces the Earth Card.]

KERO: Whoa, whoa! Wait a second! What are you doing?
SAKURA: I've got an idea.
KERO: Are you sure?! We don't have much time!
SAKURA: It won't fail me. You said to choose a card that helped me before. I know this is the one.
KERO: Sakura... All right! Let's get it!
SAKURA: That's right! Follow my lead!
KERO: Bring it on!
SAKURA: Wood Card, come to my aide! Use your vines to tangle and trap Earth. Wood!

[The Wood spirit leaves her card and flies around and around Earth, entrapping it in her vines.]

KERO: Good job!
SAKURA: It worked! Kero, I think it's moving!
KERO: Quick! Before it breaks off!
SAKURA: Earth Card, I command you to return to your power confined! Earth!

[The Earth spirit returns to a card and lands in Sakura's hand.]

SAKURA: I did it! Huh? Kero...?

[Kero starts to glow. Giant wings grow from his tiny ones and envelop him. Then the open up and standing in front of Sakura is a giant beast.]

SAKURA: Who are you? Where's Kero?
KEROBEROS: Right in front of you.
SAKURA: It's you, Kero! Is this what you really look like?
KEROBEROS: That's right. When you captured the last card, you returned me to my true form.
SAKURA: Oh, wow, Kero! Just look at you! You're kinda cool lookin'!
KEROBEROS: I'm sorry, Sakura.
SAKURA: For what?
KEROBEROS: That I couldn't help you more. Until the final card was collected, my magic was restricted.
SAKURA: But, Kero! You did help me! I couldn't have done it without you!
KEROBEROS: promise I will be here now.
SAKURA: For what?
KEROBEROS: The final test... Yue...

[Back at the shrine, Li, Madison, and Ms. MacKenzie are waiting for Sakura. Julian is lying on a seat, fast asleep. Sakura and Keroberos run up to their waiting friends.]

SAKURA: Madison!
MADISON: Sakura's back! Are you all right?
SAKURA: Hmm-hmm! Look, the final card! Now I've captured them all!
MADISON: I got to catch this on video!

[Madison sees Keroberos standing behind Sakura.]

MADISON: Is that who I think it is?

[Night time at the shrine finds Madison, Keroberos, Ms. MacKenzie and a still sleeping Julian nearby, while Sakura and Li, in their capturing outfits converse.]

LI: Keroberos doesn't look very happy.
SAKURA: No, he's worried. Li, do you know who Yue is?
LI: Yue is the second guardian of the Clow Cards. You see, Clow Reed created two protectors of the cards. Keroberos, the Guardian Beast of the Seal is ruled by the Sun, and Clow Reed also created Yue, the judge, who is ruled by the Moon.
SAKURA: But exactly what does Yue have to judge?
LI: Don't know. Clow Reed left many magic books behind but none have any detailed records of Yue. You got he Clow Book, right, Sakura?
SAKURA: Yeah...
LI: The golden beast on the front is Keroberos, and the moon on the back represents Yue.
SAKURA: Kero seems to think Yue is coming.
LI: He is? Yue will probably manifest himself in his true form, just like Keroberos.

[Madison approaches Sakura, just as she notices Ms. MacKenzie standing near Julian.]

SAKURA: She's here again...
MADISON: Did you sign it yet? The last card, did you sign your name on it yet?
SAKURA: No, not yet.
MADISON: Great! Can I get you signing it on video?
SAKURA: Sure.
KEROBEROS: Sakura, once you sign your name, all the cards will be sealed.
SAKURA: Finally!
KEROBEROS: You must be ready to face the final judgment.
SAKURA: Final what?
LI: What's the matter, Sakura?
SAKURA: Oh, nothing! I'll sign it!
MADISON: I was wondering something, Sakura. You have some of the Clow Cards, and Li has some too, right? So, if neither of you have all of them, then who ends up being the owner of them?
KEROBEROS: Yue will find out as soon as they arrive.
MADISON: Who?

[Sakura finishes signing her name on the bottom of the card. Then a wind starts to blow leaves across the shrine.]

MS. MacKENZIE: They're here now. It is time.
SAKURA: (thinking) What's going on?

[Suddenly, Julian starts glowing and rises above the seat where he was lying. Giant wings grow out from his back and envelop him.]

SAKURA: It's Julian!

[The wings open and a totally different person appears, with long silver hair, wings, and a serious expression.]

SAKURA: Who's that?
KEROBEROS: Yue.
SAKURA: Yue...?

[Memory flashback to when Sakura is facing the Light and Dark spirits.]

DARK: The final judgment will come from Yue.
LIGHT: Trust yourself. You are the one.

[The two spirits return to their cards.]

SAKURA: Huh? Wait! Who's Yue?
LIGHT: He's been right beside you al along.

[End Flashback.]

SAKURA: It's you. But, then... I don't get it. What happened to Julian?
MS. MacKENZIE: Julian is Yue. He's been Yue all along.
YUE: It's been a long time, Keroberos.
KEROBEROS: Yes, it has.
YUE: You were careless! The Clow Cards should have never escaped!
KEROBEROS: Perhaps, but you know as well as I do, that nothing happens by accident. Yue, I knew you were waiting, preparing...
SAKURA: Why didn't Julian tell us?
KEROBEROS: Yue kept his true identity hidden from him... he didn't know. (to Yue) Without the final card, I could only sense your presence. (to Ms. MacKenzie) And you... you have magical powers, too! I thought for a time that you could be the judge. But you gave Sakura you help, your guidance. I knew then that you couldn't be Yue. It is not the judge's role to help anyone find their way. But you knew all along... didn't you?
MS. MacKENZIE: That the boy, Julian , was not who he seemed to be? Yes, I was aware.
SAKURA: Kero! Slow down! I don't understand! What did you know?
YUE: That I'm just like Keroberos. Without my magical powers, I could not return to my true form.
MADISON: So, that means that Julian was...
LI: The second guardian, all along.
YUE: So, we finally meet, Sakura. Candidate to be the master of the Clow Cards, chosen by Keroberos.
SAKURA: Julian...
YUE: But, I sense there is another who has the cards.
LI: Hmm.
YUE: There is no point to pass final judgment if one didn't catch all of the cards herself!
KEROBEROS: Sakura has learned much. I have faith that she will pass the test.
YUE: You seem confident.
KEROBEROS: By tradition, the final decision is up to you.
YUE: Then let the final judgment begin!
SAKURA: Wait a minute! All the cards have been captured! I did what I was supposed to do, we both did! So what's this final judgment?
KEROBEROS: Patience.

[Yue flies up and stand on top of a building nearby.]

YUE: Now come.
LI: Uh?
SAKURA: What's wrong? Huh? Li! No! Bring him back!

[Li suddenly floats up and lands opposite Yue on the roof top.]

YUE: I am Yue, the judge! Final judgment belongs to me!
LI: Hmm.
YUE: You may use all the cards in your possession. Try and defeat me.

[Yue attacks Li, who gets hit and falls to the roof top. Down below, Sakura runs towards the building, only to be stopped by an invisible force field.]

LI: Ah!
SAKURA: Look out! I'm coming, Li! Let me through! Kero, help!
KEROBEROS: No one can help him. This is his test alone.
SAKURA: Oh, no!
LI: Element, fire! Come to my aide!

[Fire engulfs Yue.]

LI: It's working! Huh?

[The fire disappears, leaving Yue unhurt.]

YUE: You can not defeat Yue with fire alone.
LI: Element, wind!
YUE: It's no use.

[Yue sends several more blasts at Li, who falls to the roof again.]

LI: Ah! Ah! Oh...
YUE: I am surprised. I thought a direct descendant of Clow Reed would be a more worthy opponent.
LI: Time!

[Time envelops the whole roof, but Yue is no where to be seen.]

LI: Huh? Where did he go?

[Yue then appears behind him]

YUE: Time is one of the cards under my protection. This is the end.

[Time then also envelops Li.]

LI: Aah!

[Down below, Li appears on the ground in front of Sakura and Keroberos. He slowly tries to stand up.]

SAKURA: Li!
KEROBEROS: Li!
SAKURA: Are you okay? Wake up!
LI: Uh... He took all of my cards...
SAKURA: All of them?
LI: Be careful, Sakura. He's very powerful.
YUE: It's time for the next candidate to come forward.

[Sakura suddenly disappears and reappears on a roof top facing the radio tower.]

MADISON: Sakura! No!
SAKURA: Just like my dream! It's all the same!

[Sakura remembers her dreams of just the same scene, then Yue breaks through her thoughts.]

YUE: Heed me, card of the book of Clow. The person who wishes to be our master stands before me.
SAKURA: Huh?
YUE: Keroberos, the elector, has chosen this girl, Sakura!
SAKURA: Ah!
YUE: Whether or not she is truly fit to be our master will be decided by me. So, let the final judgment commence!
